The two day program is a highly useful complement to assist Performance Management capability and is viewed as an essential program for new managers. Over the 2 days participants are helped to understand their role in managing and engaging staff and how their behaviour and style can be instrumental in increasing or decreasing staff performance. Content covers why people under-perform and how to decisively manage both high and low performance as well as “difficult staff”. Through self-diagnostic questionnaires, participants explore their own work motivations, diversity as a group and ways in which different people construct the world of work today. Content includes the teaching of coaching and mentoring skills, delegation, meeting management and conflict resolution.
The one day program has been designed to complement the introduction or refreshment of a formal performance management system. Its focus is to help managers understand their role and accountability in contributing to a high performance and engaged workplace by understanding the factors which contribute to such an environment. It does so by encouraging participants to understand their role as leaders and coaches; to equip them with the knowledge and skills to manage both high and low performance; to help them understand how to effectively delegate and support the professional and personal development of staff; and to assist them understand diversity in the workplace and how to best leverage off this.
In addition the program assists personal self-awareness of participants in such areas as work-based motivation, management style, influence strategies etc.
