These programs are aimed at developing practical leadership and people management skills through development of emotional intelligence: creating a deeper understanding of the human factors at play in the work environment; strengthening the capacity, confidence and self-awareness of participants; and actively exploring the linkages between the behaviour of individuals and their motivations, drives and personality.
The program contents concentrate on developing self-awareness of participants: how they perceive and communicate with others, how their core beliefs, values and experiences affect their behaviours and interaction with others. Emphasis is placed on deepening self-understanding, the patterns of thinking and behaviour that are utilised during daily interactions and on exploring the “human elements” that affect interpersonal relationships in the workplace, including styles of influencing, openness and trust-building. The process of the workshop will allow reflection on individual differences between people and the need to value and gain benefit from diversity.
Emotional Intelligence is seen as a fundamental building block of leadership and management effectiveness. The key personal inner challenge of leadership is to reduce the level of unconsciousness and increase the awareness of one’s own actions in order to enhance intentionality and flexibility of behaviour. Given the huge impact leaders have on the lives of other people and on forming the culture of the organisation, it is essential that leaders can and do act as consciously and responsibly as possible; that is they are purposeful and intentional in their decisions and actions and aware of the impact they have on others.
Suitable for Staff at all levels wishing to improve their people management skills, managers wishing to better understand how their behaviour and style impacts on others, staff wanting to learn more about Emotional Intelligence (EQ), staff who have recently taken on a leadership role or are considering doing so.
A three day residential program provides opportunity to reach the depth of trust and interaction necessary to generate behavioural change.
The program is highly experiential in nature and involves participants committing themselves to exploring established patterns of thinking and behaviour and practising new ways of interacting. As a support for this, participants will keep a learning journal throughout the three days.
Three general themes will be developed during the residential component of the program:
Managing and Motivating the Performance of Staff
Effective Coaching and Mentoring of Staff
Leadership Development through Emotional Intelligence
Building and Sustaining a High Performance Team
